Upgrades over stock

Star " * " = Complete

Front transverse leaf spring.

I was convinced that it would be the perfect addition to the already modified suspension when I read an article that said "When installed on a 1979 corvette it handeled like a 1990 LT-1. Now that's what I'm talking about!

E-Brake kit.

This is somthing that you have to spend some bucks on but you can't realy show it off.

New rear end ratio 4.11.

The stock 3.08 ratio is great if you want to get a monster speeding ticket. But not so good for launching away from a green light. *

Bubble tail lamp lenses.

These come with 2 small wiring harneses that makes your corvette have 4 brake/turn signal lights however you have to give up your backup lights. I guess its the price you pay for some cool looks. *

MSD6AL Ignition.

This is the latest greatest trick. It gives you multible sparks which inturn burns better and ultimitly gives you more ponies and better MPG. Can't beat that!

Front end rebuild Kit.

If you buy a good quality kit it will include all the Tie rod ends, 4 Bal joints and attaching hardware, an idler arm, and control arm bushings.

*

Accel supper coil.

This coil puts out 4X+ more energy that GM's stock piece.

*

Hooker Side Pipes.

This is actualy a realitvly cheap exhaust system when you start out with nothing from the engine back. The picture here shows them with a bell mouth but that is not how they actualy look.

*

New 280lb/in front springs.

These medium duty springs are as strong as they need to be because I have an upgraded 1.25in Front sway bar that does a great job of handeling the corners with out giving up an ounce of ride quality.

*

4 Rebuilt calipers.

Instead of purchasing new ones I rebuilt the existing ones my self this saved me about $400 that could be better spent elseware.

*

Shift Kit.

In order for an automatic to keep up with and even dust a 4 speed you need to have an edge. A shift kit does just that. Think of it. It never misses a shift and over revs that beauty under the hood. Not bad investment for $50 bucks and an afternoon under your baby. *

Fiberglass Rear Leaf Spring

This little goody gives the car a more natural feel around corners and saves me 40 Lbs in the back. I also like the fact that fiberglass has no "memory" which makes it last a lot longer.

*

4 New Shocks

Here is an area that I should have spent more on. You can buy 3 different levels of shock absorbers for ath C3 and I went for the middle ground. I should have spent the extra $100 for the better ones.

*

A Front 1" 1/4 and a Rear 3/4" Sway bar.

These were on the car when I bought it which was bonus for me because I was going to buy the kit any way. I read in a book called "How To Restore and Modify Your Corvette" that the best way to improve your handeling is to increase the diamiter of your sway bar(Bigger = more resistance to twist) which is what happens when you are cornering at high speeds. However on the straight away when the tires are going up and down at the same rate the sway bar just piviots in position and has no efect on the other wheel.

*

Steeroids Rack and Pinion.

I can't wait to get this one however my wallet can 1,300.00

Hydro boost kit.

This kit eliminates the brake booster and gives you alot more power assist by using the power steering pump. In fact a lot of large trucks use this system to boost thier brake systems.

TH200-4R.

An absolute must now that I have changed my rear ratio from 3.08 to 4.11. This tranny when built up properly can handel as much as 700 HP. It also features an over drive of .67 in fourth gear. The best thing about it is that it will bolt right in where the old TH350 was with out any modification to the drive shaft or tunnel.

Astro top.

Here you see one of the most debateable accesories you can buy for thease cars. There are a lot of people that say don't waste your money. Well I took a chance and dispite the ignorant sales staff it was shipped as promissed with out a problem. I love the one piece design and the extra head room it gives you not to mention the view from the inside.

And on My car it looks like it is a solid plastic pannel painted to match the car untill you get in. too cool!!!

*

Gauges

It now has a cool look to it that few other corvettes have. Surprisingly it was not that difficult of a modification. I used 30deg. angle rings that tilt the gauges toward the driver. The bulbs are red for a great after dark look. For more Info on how I did this check out my web page.
