Scott's Corvette Site

Welcome everyone!

This is my 69 Convertible. I purchased the car about 15 years ago. At the time I couldn't afford a running car so I looked for a wreck. I lucked into this thru the paper in Richmond. The previous owner had been hit on the passenger side rear wheel which spun him around hitting a parked car in the front. The car sat in his garage for 18 months before he decided to sell. The damage was all cosmetic as the front suspension was not even out of alignment. I gave him $1800 and trailered it home.
I worked on the car for over a year getting it ready to drive. The passenger side trailing arm was bent so that needed replacing. The engine had not been run in almost 2 years. I changed the oil, put in some gas and gave it a try. It cranked right up and had good oil pressure so I left things alone for the time being and concentrated on the body work. The car was orignially a light blue with a blue interior. After some thought, I decided red with a black interior was the way to go. I painted it myself in a garage. It actually came out pretty good. I changed to the current blue a few years later.
In 1990, I decided to pull the heads and change to a more aggressive cam. It turns out the engine is from a 71 vette and has mismatched heads. One is original and the other came off of a chevy truck. At the time money was a issue so I rebuilt them and put them back on. The four seed was rebuilt at that time also. The engine runs ok but I plan to pull it and rebuild into a 383 this fall. I also want to add a big block hood and re-do the paint as it is beginning to show some age.
