Notes:

Base

  • In order to clear the Demon carb's secondary pump lever, I had to bend/dent the breather tube that goes from underneath the base to the valve cover and raise the lid 1/8th inch off the carb throat using a rubber gasket.

  • Used the original hose (350/350 & LT1) from base tube to valve cover breather tube.

Air Box

  • Marked center of carb to underneath of hood by threading a longer stud in carb and putting a dab of silicone sealer on the end of the stud.  Lowered hood and sealer transferred to the underside of the hood.  Centered air box opening with silicone mark.

  •  Attached box to hood with epoxy putty in about 8 spots in 2 inch lengths.

  • Sealed entire box to hood with Permatex Silicone adhesive.

Additional Notes:

Since I had already purchased and installed the hood to provide clearance for the intake, the addition of the cold air box was a no brainer.  I found one on eBay and won the auction with a $50 bid (retails for $109).  Unfortunately, it was severely damaged in shipping.  The seller got $50 from UPS as a settlement for damages and he graciously refunded my money AND let me keep the box.  Since it was repairable, I used a combination of fiberglass mat, resin, fiber body filler and regular finishing body filler to make it good as new.  I spent about $10 in materials and about a day of labor.

Cleaner base height required no adjustment to fit box.  Height components = Edelbrock RPM Air Gap, 1" carb spacer, Speed Demon 750 mechanical, rubber throat gasket & L-88 base.
