Additional Notes:
Since I had already purchased and
installed the hood to provide clearance for the intake, the addition of the
cold air box was a no brainer. I found one on eBay and won the auction
with a $50 bid (retails for $109). Unfortunately, it was severely
damaged in shipping. The seller got $50 from UPS as a settlement for
damages and he graciously refunded my money AND let me keep the box.
Since it was repairable, I used a combination of fiberglass mat, resin, fiber
body filler and regular finishing body filler to make it good as new. I
spent about $10 in materials and about a day of labor.
Cleaner base height required no
adjustment to fit box. Height components = Edelbrock RPM Air Gap,
1" carb spacer, Speed Demon 750 mechanical, rubber throat gasket &
L-88 base.
