Steeroids R&P conversion

The steering on my car had allways been a bit sloppy with too much free play. I think most of it probably was in the control valve. Instead of starting to work on the original steering setup I decided to install Speed Directs rack and pinion conversion kit called steeroids. Besides getting rid of any slop in the system it would also give a better steering feel than the original system.
This pic shows the contents of the kit.

Installation was pretty straight forward allthough a little bit of massaging was required. I had to slightly enlarge some bolt holes on the brackets and the tie rod bracket was slightly rubbing the rubber seal on the rack so I slightly cut it for clearance (see pic). I also painted the tie rods black.

After having driven with the new setup for a couple of months I can say that I like it a lot. It's tight and responsive, just like one would expect on a sports car. The only drawback is the turning circle which is slightly bigger with the steeroids setup. My front tires used to just touch the frame at full lock, now there's a thumbs width of room there. Not a big deal though.
