March of 1989
So there it was in all it's glory. A pretty worn, 14 year old Camaro. I didn't know much about cars and even less about Chevy's. All I knew was that it had a V8. I was yet to find out it was rated at a dismaying 145hp @3600rpm. Torque was 240ft-lbs @2200. Yep, A real rocket all right. The previous owner had installed a 2" dual exhaust with no catalytic converter so it made maybe 170hp or so.
Oh, did I mention it had a rochester 2 bbl carb?

Notice the '70s styling: The brown metallic paint and beige vinyl top. Notice the tasteful additions: Champ 500 rear rims with stock front rallyes. Not to speak of the cute little rear side marker lamp.

Weird thing was the laminated windshield had separated. You can clearly see the big smudge right next to the A-pillar. In the background you can make out mom's '62 VW bug.

The mighty 145hp, 2bbl 350 V8! Dirty & rusty, but it still ran real well for what it was. No doubt the missing cat and the dual exhaust helped. I soon installed a Holley 600CFM 4bbl on it with a offenhauser aluminum intake. Got several years of faithfull service out of it until suddenly one day the motor spun a rod bearing. But that story as well as the resurrection is told on the restoration page.
