Welcome to Marcho Polo's stuff!

I used to have a 1985 for a couple years. I did a lot of work on it, then one day it was struck by lightning while my dad and I were driving home from Bowling Green. The replacement is my 1990 Polo Green coupe! The picture to the right is my '90 the day I picked it up.

It had about 123,000 miles on it and ran perfect. There were some things that needed attention though, but it has been a reliable daily driver for me so far.

The only modifications I've done on the '90 are an open air filter lid with K&N filter, no mufflers, and no pre-cats. Everything else is stock. My best time so far is 13.951 @ 98mph, when the pre-cats and main cat were bad. I'm hoping it will run even better next time out now that the exhaust is in better shape.

Here is a picture of the motor on the '90 when I bought it. Typical dirty motor with dis-colored valve covers.

The intake manifold rear seal was leaking shortly after I bought the car, so I needed to tear the top end down and repair that. While I had everything apart, I cleaned up the parts pretty well.

Here is the motor as it looks today after cleaning! It looks much better now, but there are still plenty of things dirty under the hood. The motor now has about 128,000 miles on it and I drive it everyday, rain or shine.
