Mistress Motorsports

Mistress Motorsports wins the 2000 PRO-Racing Championship!!!

Mistress Motorsports came about when my wife decided to call the race car my mistress. Why not? I spend lots of money on "her" and take "her" away for long weekends. My friends call the car Herbie because my number is 53. This is my most recent toy. The car has a 1985 frame with typical racing mods for suspension and brakes, a '93 LT-1 based engine putting out mid-400's for power, and lightweight bodywork. It tips the scales at just under 2800 pounds. This year I have elevated my racing from small club events to pro races like the Speedvision World Challenge and PRO-Racing sprint and endurance races. The following pages detail some of the exploits of Mistress Motorsports, from solo and open track events in the 1980's to this year's pro events.
The car before the stripes at a PRO-Racing race at Las Vegas last year. PRO Racing is a sanctioning body for experienced racers who don't want to worry much about performance restriction rules. Of course, safety regulations are still strictly enforced. The cars are all production based sports cars with virtually unlimited modifications allowed. We can run slicks, wings, etc. Classes are based on modifications and performance potential. Although we are racing wheel to wheel, non contact rules are strictly enforced, similar to vintage racing. We do allow for the occasional "racing incident." We wound up undefeated in class in 2000 PRO sprint races, and didn't finish lower than 2nd in PRO enduros. This gave us the 2000 points championship with PRO!!
Here's the car I used to race. It's a 93 LT-1 with a DRM top end kit, suspension mods and aftermarket brakes. This car weighed 3400 pounds and had a full interior with working a/c, etc. The pic is of me instructing my brother at Willow Springs in early 1999. This car was raced for 6 years with only 1 dnf and lots of trophies, including Touring Car Club's "fastest big bore" for 1998. I sold this car in the summer of '99. It started as my every day car, then became a stock class autocrosser, a time trialer, and a finally a club racer. With no engine failures in almost 200 hours of track events, plus countless autocrosses and commuting miles, this was by far the most bulletproof car I have ever owned. I used this car mostly for Touring Car Racing Association events, which are club races held throughout southern California, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.
