installing a Mini-Ram, things to do/check.
the motor swap

This is my 86 vette. It is my project car, I've already put in the Richmond 6spd and the AFS ZR-1 wheels with BFG KDW tires. Other items added are , Vette brakes prod's : sport suspension kit(I have drivin this about 300miles and I can say that this kit is *very* firm riding, not as rough as a 84 that I had drove but close. havn't had it on auto X course yet). The latest Mod is the motor, the 406ci is in (as of 8-30-01), took me over a month and 1/2 but she is in and running, despite having to fix leaking head studs, and a cooling problem (mini-ram has a clearence problem with thermostat) see links on the left side of page. I'm burning my own e-proms now with pretty good results I think. This turned out to be easier than I thought it would be, and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to modify there engine (its better because you can keep working on it).

The new motor in the car, but not all hooked up at the time of this photo.

this is the 406ci motor for the 86 before installing. Its a 1975 400 block. JE pistons, 6" con. rods, all forged, TPIS solid roller cam (.572 lift, 246deg @ .050", 112deg lobe sep.), comp cams roller rockers. TPIS mini-ram, Edelbrock water pump, Canton 7qt oil pan(you must drill the hole for a dipstick thru windage tray),BBK 58mm throttle body, air pump elim, MSD 6AL and wires, TPIS 1 3/4" headers and a Aluminum radiator. update: I was runing AFR 195 heads, these turned out to be too small, I have changed to AFR210 competition ported. This was a good improvement, as of 7-10-02 my best 1/4 mile is 12.367 @ 115.5mph.
