My love affair with the Corvette began in 1987 when I was 16 years old... Simply out shopping one day with my best friend's father at the local Chevrolet dealer... I saw a red 1987 Corvette on the showroom floor... I really loved the sleek styling of the car... Well, all it took was for me to sit behind the wheel once, and I had Corvette Fever... We left the dealership that day in a new 1987 IROC-Z, but the dream of someday owning a Corvette never left my mind... I've owned a couple of sports cars over the years, even though they were very nice cars, a 1988 IROC-Z, and a 1997 Pontiac Trans Am, they still weren't a Corvette... Well one day last year I got the itch again... In 1998 the C5s were in such high demand that the price on C4s dropped a good 20% from the last time I checked... I originally wanted a 96 LT4 CE convertible, but after a problem with GM concering my 6spd Trans Am, I went with an automatic LT1 car... I looked 2 months for a convertible but the only one to be had was yellow with a black top, so I chose a coupe instead... |
