We were in the market for a new car. We tried many while searching for the right one. My wife, having a back problem, had to have one with seats that were very comfortable. In the back of my mind, I really wanted a sports car, mainly a corvette for a long time. In the process of trying seats in different cars, I suggested she try a Camaro, Trans Am and a C-5 Corvette. To my surprise, she thought the C-5 was the most comfortable of all the vehicles we tried. Not having to twist my arm, we test drove a couple C-5’s. I started doing research on the C-5, reading everything I could find on this car. Every magazine article raved about this car, how powerful, comfortable it was, and how it was a real pleasure to drive. We were convinced and the decision was made. We started searching for my, our, dream car, late in the 99 model year. Not being very successful in finding what we were looking for, we resolved that the only way we could get one was to place an order for a 2000. Early August, we were about to order when a dealer about 50 miles away in Orlando Florida called one morning.. He said they had just delivered a 2000 pewter coupe, did I want it. Car basically had what I would have ordered, except for side body molding, shade screen and cargo net. I said, yes, I was interested and we agreed on the price over the phone. Told salesperson, I could not get there before 7 p.m. would he hold it until then. He asked for a retainer to hold the car; then, I did something I thought I would never do. I put the deposit on my credit card. We were so excited! It seemed everything in the world was eating at the clock, 7:00 was approaching very fast. I thought we would never get there. We looked her over, signed the papers, and adopted and brought the baby home with us, August 5, 1999. For a long time, I’d open the garage door before going to bed to see if it was really true and not just a dream. Such an impressive car! I’m glad I was able to get a new one and the best vette yet!
When testing and checking the corvette, one problem surfaced immediately. My wife noticed right away that it had only one cup holder and asked who was going to get to use it, Me or you?. Being a Metal Fabricator, upon getting the vehicle, I quickly got busy on a dual cup holder. My design criteria was that it be balanced and sturdy, no vehicle modification, easy to install and remove, take different container sizes and yet not be gaudy or intrusive in the cockpit. After several tries, what I have designed met my requirements. We have had one in our car since September 99 with no problems. You too may have the same complaint as my wife. It certainly solved the problem for us of WHERE DO I PUT MY CUP?
Lack of a second cup holder was also expressed strongly at the 3rd C5 Birthday Bash we attended in Bowling Green, particularly in the ladies sessions. At that time I had been using my dual cup holder for some time. People began seeing my cup holder and many asked if I was planning to make them and sell them. I had no intention to ever produce an item or be a businessperson. After many requests, much persuasion, and encouragement, I decided to manufacture the dual cup holder. The cup holder gives me a sense of accomplishment and joy to provide a product many feel is a necessity for enjoying their pride and joy vehicle.

As I said before, this is an impressive car, beautiful, and such a joy to drive. I thank God for allowing me to get and enjoy such a beautiful sports car.
