Welcome to my 1966 Corvette page
This is the history of my car since I purchased it in 1980. I bought the car for $6200. It needed a lot of cosmetic work but it was all there, matching numbers and a clean body. It was a base 300hp motor with 3.36 gears and wide ratio trans. The engine was ready for a rebuild, an oil burner with unknown miles since the odo quit working at 89K. 1981, I pulled the motor
in my dads home garage in Abington, MA and brought it to Reids Automotive machine
shop in A very knowledable owner/racer/engine builder Jim Reid that I would highly recommend. Bored .030 over and upgraded to a comp cam 268 HE, and Edelbrock intake. I've retained the original holley, but added an accell super coil for less spark plug fouling problems. The next step was to take out the whole interior and replace with a mix of new and used parts, I changed the color from tan to black and installed leather seat covers. Spring 1982, bring the car to get painted, original Milano Maroon. I took a 66 big block hood they had at the shop , I cut out the hood grill holding plate out to allow for more air flow. The suspension, I picked up front and rear sway bars from a big block car, installed a 330 lb monospring, ac/delco performer shocks, poly bushings in the rear struts and control arms. The past five years I installed a centerforce clutch, ceramic coated headers, aluminized pipes and muffs, alum water pump, rebuilt parking brakes, rebuilt steering column, replaced the dash harness, installed new odometer, and new front carpet.
Here's a pic of it in my garage in Middleboro. |
